In this episode Courtney (she/her) and Bayden (he/him) dive into the topic of the representation of ethnicity and religion in the Australian news media landscape. 

Is there accurate representation in the Australian news and what is the effect of representation, or lack of, on the audience? Is what we see true, or is it just biased with  stereotypical portrayals?

We will discuss the psychological impacts the news can have on the audience, and speak to four people from different ethnicities and religions about their experiences as a result of their representation in the news.

Gender & Sexuality

In this episode Amy (she/her) and Riley (he/him) will dive back into the topic of representation in media with a different focus; gender and sexuality.

Where does Australian media land when it comes to accurately reflecting the queer and gender-diverse communities within our country, and why is it important to ask these questions? 

We'll discuss the harm that negative and inaccurate representation can perpetuate, and celebrate Australia's success stories in diverse representation, like Australian-made global phenomenon Bluey.
